About the role

An exciting opportunity for a Security Project Manager to contribute to a federal government security uplift. The organisation regulates and ensures the safety and soundness of financial institutions across the country. As Security Project Manager, you will oversee and coordinate all aspects of security projects from start to finish. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of security projects, ensuring timely and budget-compliant achievement of project goals.
  • Develop detailed project plans, including timelines, milestones, and resource allocation, and monitor progress.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to identify and mitigate project risks, resolve issues, and ensure successful outcomes.
  • Manage project budgets, track expenditures, and ensure effective financial management.
  • Facilitate change management processes, including stakeholder communication, training, and documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant security standards, regulations, and best practices.
  • Provide regular project status updates to senior management and stakeholders.
  • Establish and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proactively forecast and manage common security project issues and risks.
  • Adhere to project management standards, including status reporting, project finance management, risk and issue management, stakeholder engagement, and governance.

Required Experience

  • Extensive experience managing security-focused projects, with a proven ability to handle projects involving both business and IT deliverables.
  • Experience in implementing security systems and protocols is highly regarded.
  • Strong understanding of security principles, technologies, and best practices.
  • Experience in vendor, contract management, and procurement of security solutions.

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency in project management tools and software, such as Microsoft Project, ADO, or similar.
  • Experience with risk management and mitigation strategies.
  • Familiarity with change management methodologies and tools (e.g., PROSCI).
  • Formal project management certification (e.g., PMBOK, Prince 2, Scrum, Agile, etc.).
