A well-known Independent Statutory Body is seeking an experienced Customer Service Officer to start as soon as possible.


Your new role

  • Process applications for racing codes, including Bookmakers, Clerks, Promoters, and Syndications.
  • Assist and consult with stakeholders to ensure compliance with racing rules.
  • Handle customer enquiries and manage complaints, providing accurate advice.
  • Manage DNA registration and processing for Standardbreds.
  • Maintain call logs, record complaints, and report non-compliance issues.
  • Allocate and distribute microchips for greyhounds and Standardbreds, maintaining stock control.
  • Collect fees and coordinate penalties and debt recovery.
  • Issue documentation, monitor licencing and registration requests, and ensure accurate record-keeping.
  • Communicate with stakeholders to resolve complex applications and operational issues.
  • Perform data entry and maintain databases.
  • Prioritise work to meet deadlines and statutory timeframes.
  • Conduct audits for racing codes and promoters.
  • Demonstrate ethical behaviour and integrity as per the Public Sector Ethics Act 1994.


What you'll need to succeed

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for handling enquiries and complaints. Previous experience in a Customer Service role is required.
  • Strong attention to detail for processing applications and maintaining records.
  • Effective organisational skills to prioritise tasks and manage time efficiently.
  • Problem-solving abilities to resolve complex applications and operational issues.
  • Proficiency in data entry and database management.
  • Familiarity with microchip allocation and distribution processes.
  • Understanding of racing rules and relevant legislation.
  • Knowledge of compliance requirements and procedures.
  • Commitment to ethical behaviour and integrity as per the Public Sector Ethics Act 1994.
  • Ability to work independently with a methodical approach to prioritising work demands.
  • Experience in consulting with internal and external stakeholders, including government and non-government agencies.
  • Skills in liaising for fee collection, penalties, and debt recovery.
  • Capability to conduct audits for racing codes and promoters when required.
  • Previous experience within the Queensland Government would be highly beneficial.
