I am partnered with a Federal Government Agency across South Australia and New South Wales to recruit an APS5 Actuary for a 12 month, full-time temporary assignment with the potential to extend.

As the APS5 Actuary, you will be responsible for setting priorities and allocating work to team members. You will perform a variety of procedural, clerical, administrative, and operational tasks.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Extracting, cleansing, and preparing data from multiple sources, particularly the data warehouse, and advising on appropriate data checks for reasonableness.
  • Updating and developing regular performance monitoring.
  • Completing data analysis for reporting to the Board, Minister, and for public data sharing.
  • Utilising statistical and mathematical modelling techniques to undertake analytical work on various tasks, including actuarial monitoring and analyses, data tabulations, scheme projects, and cost-benefit analyses.
  • Undertaking ad hoc modelling requests and report production.
  • Effectively communicating (verbally and in writing) the progress of work responsibilities and outcomes of work undertaken.

What you'll need to succeed

To be successful in the position of the APS5 Actuary, you will:

  • Relevant academic qualifications in Actuarial Studies or Mathematics/Statistics, progressing towards Associate and/or Fellowship qualifications.
  • Demonstrated experience in data extraction, cleansing, and preparation from multiple sources.
  • Proficiency in statistical and mathematical modelling techniques.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team and lead team members.
