The role

We are seeking a strong communicator to join our team within the Operations North department as a Project Engineer (Transport). In this pivotal role, you will be an essential member of the Operations Team, responsible for managing projects under Council’s Capital Works Program, including maintenance initiatives and natural disaster assistance projects. What you will bring

  • Degree in Civil Engineering, Project Management, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in coordinating and delivering transport infrastructure projects within budget and time constraints.
  • An understanding of relevant legislation and acts in the civil industry, including the Local Government Act, Roads Act, and Environmental Planning and Assessment Act.
  • Proficiency in project management software and tools, including budgeting, reporting, and risk management.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively support and coordinate multidisciplinary teams.
  • Ability to influence stakeholders, resolve conflicts, and negotiate favorable outcomes.
  • Commitment to providing high levels of customer service to the community and internal stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of Work Health & Safety legislation and practices, ensuring compliance in project execution.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to address project challenges effectively.

Salary: Salary range circa $91,806.00 - $110,167.00 p.a. plus superannuation. (Dependent on skills and experience.)  

Additional civil liability allowance of 3.5% applies to this position on top of the above salary range.

A vehicle arrangement will be made with the successful candidate for this role. MCC’s vehicle arrangements provide you with two options:

  1. The payment of a Vehicle Allowance equating to approximately $9,000 p/a; or
  2. A Leaseback Vehicle whereby Council provides you with a vehicle for an annual fee calculated as 20% of the gross purchase price.  This is a fully maintained vehicle for both business and full private use with no additional expenses in normal use.

Location: Upon commencement your normal place of work will be the Taree and Gloucester Works Depots. You may also be required to be based from other Council sites across the MidCoast Council region.

Tenure: Permanent, Full Time.
